Welcome Note of the President for the Annual Meeting

Ladies and gentlemen,
dear colleagues,
we are pleased to invite you to the 96th Annual Meeting of the German Society for Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.
The event will take place from 28–31 May, 2025 in Frankfurt (a. M.). This is the first time in the almost 100-year history of our specialist society that Frankfurt has hosted our annual meeting. We will be holding our traditional and renowned congress with national and international participants on the premises of Messe Frankfurt, in the Main metropolis and thus in the heart of Europe.
Under the guiding theme of “Individualisation versus Standardisation”, our event is aimed at all interested specialist colleagues, nursing staff, members of related disciplines and all other interested experts. In addition to the scientific discourse, this year's motto also offers the opportunity to take stock of health policy in the context of the current topics of outpatient care, intersectoral care, hospital reform, including demand planning, the reform of the financing basis, the continuing shortage of resources, a dramatically changing working environment with simultaneously increased quality requirements and targets. This results in a multitude of contradictions and seemingly irresolvable contradictions, which at the same time represent an enormous development potential for our specialist field, which has always been subject to continuous change.
The upcoming congress will therefore be an important platform for exchanging views, forming opinions and ultimately also for health policy work, which, in addition to our professional expertise, will form the basis for the future development of our field. The upcoming congress will therefore serve, more than ever, to promote scientific exchange, but also to determine the direction of our field.
Despite the many challenges that our specialty is currently facing and will continue to face in the future, the enthusiasm for our specialty should also be a reason to welcome young employees in particular - students, nurses, technical staff and trainees - into the “ENT family”. The annual congress is the ideal opportunity for this, in addition to selected specialist contributions, structured sessions, top-class scientific and clinical lectures and presentations on the state of the art of our specialist field, to actively get to know each other, or “networking” in new German.
The Rhine-Main region, and Frankfurt in particular, also offers a wide range of highlights from the fields of history, science and culture.
We look forward to welcoming you to Frankfurt in 2025 to help make the 96th annual meeting of our specialist society a success.
Welcome to Frankfurt!
With best regards
Yours
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Timo Stöver

Dear Professor Dr. Timo Stöver,
dear participants of the 96th Annual Meeting of the German Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery,
it is a special honour to welcome you and your association to the 96th Annual Meeting in Frankfurt am Main. For the first time in the almost 100-year history of your society, Frankfurt will be the venue for this traditional and renowned congress. From 28–31 May 2025, you will gather here in the heart of Europe, at Frankfurt Congress Center, to engage in scientific dialogue and discuss new insights and challenges in your specialty.
Frankfurt is proud to host an event that not only brings together experts in the field, but also provides an important platform to exchange ideas and health policy work.
Health is both an individual and a public good that needs to be protected and promoted. This is the central task of the Frankfurt Public Health Department. Since the coronavirus pandemic, the tasks of the health authorities and the entire public health service have become the focus of public attention. The core task of a Public Health Department is to provide care for the population. To secure prevention of deseases and to improve health of society as a whole. Many of these tasks are enshrined in law, while others are offered to the population of Frankfurt on an individual basis. In addition, our health department is already working on the issues that we will face in the coming years. In particular, the climate crisis and its impact on people's health. It is our common goal to focus on the health of the population so that we are prepared for all future health challenges. Only by working together - with a strong public health service, committed health facilities and a well-informed population - we can achieve a professional healthcare system that promotes, protects and empowers everyone equally.
I am particularly pleased that this congress is also open to young people, students, professionals and technical staff, providing a platform for networking and exchanging ideas within the ENT 'family'. The annual congress offers you the opportunity to do this, and our city of Frankfurt provides the perfect setting and offers beside historical, scientifical and cultural sights.
I wish you inspiring days and a rich exchange. Stay healthy!
Mike Josef

Welcome Note of the President of Goethe University
Frankfurt am Main

Dear congress participants,
I would like to welcome you to beautiful Frankfurt. I am delighted that the DGHNO-KHC e.V. is holding its annual meeting here in Frankfurt for the first time. This is your 96th meeting and this year's theme is "Individualisation versus Standardisation" - certainly a central topic in medicine.
In modern medicine in particular, you are faced with the challenge of developing personalised therapies without sacrificing the advantages of standardised procedures. However, this question is not only of great importance for medicine. Science and society must also constantly ask themselves: "How can individual needs be harmonised with proven standards?" I am sure that the dialogue between leading experts will provide new impetus and approaches.
Medicine plays an important role at Goethe University: Together with the University Hospital Frankfurt, we form the University Medical Centre and closely combine research, teaching and clinical work. In doing so, we not only make a significant contribution to healthcare in the region, but also far beyond through the training of doctors.
I would like to thank Prof. Dr. med. Timo Stöver, Director of the Department of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology at Frankfurt University Hospital and President of DGHNO-KHC e.V., for organising your 96th Annual Meeting here in Frankfurt and wish you all a successful congress and, above all, valuable new insights for your further work in the field of tension between individualisation and standard therapy.
Yours sincerely
Prof. Dr. Enrico Schleiff
President of the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main
Welcome Note from the State Premier of Hesse Boris Rhein

Health is man's greatest asset. We can count ourselves fortunate that medicine has been able to make such sustainable progress in maintaining and regaining our health in recent decades. In the event of illness, people can rely on receiving good, expert treatment. It is therefore of great importance for all those working in the healthcare sector to help shape and follow the further development of their speciality so that they are always aware of the current state of knowledge and can apply it at the cutting edge.
Medical congresses such as the annual meeting of the German Society for Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery play a key role in communicating new knowledge and methods. Regardless of modern communication possibilities, personal meetings are also an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences, maintain contacts and obtain information on research progress. This is important in order to ensure the best possible care and treatment for patients and to maintain the quality standards of treatment.
The 96th Annual Meeting of the DGHNO-KHC in Frankfurt am Main is one of the outstanding medical congresses that is internationally recognised in its field. Its main theme, "Individualisation versus standardisation", highlights one of the central areas of tension that your specialist discipline has to deal with.
The Hessian state government supports you in creating good framework conditions and structures for medical treatment:
- With our newly created Ministry for Family and Health, we are giving health policy the importance it deserves.
- With our "Pact for Health in Hesse", Minister of Health Diana Stolz has brought together the key players in the healthcare sector to ensure future-proof, high-quality and comprehensive healthcare in the implementation of the federal hospital reform through the new Hessian Health Network.
- With our Higher Education Pact and our LOEWE excellence initiative, we are also supporting science and research in medicine to the tune of billions and ensuring good medical training.
I would like to thank everyone who has made this annual meeting of the DGHNO-KHC possible. I would like to welcome all participants to Hesse. I wish you a successful conference, many valuable discussions and insights - and a wonderful time in my home town of Frankfurt am Main.
Boris Rhein
State Premier of Hesse
